- What is the origin of the name "NAOSHIYA MATABEE"?

- When we entered the retail business, we asked our employees to come up with a new name. "NAOSHIYA MATABEE" was picked as a name that can be easily remembered by the public and also as a name which best summarizes our total service. The origin of "MATABEE" is from the founder "Matabee Maeda" of Maeda Construction which is the parent company of JM Corporation.

- What is the relationship between NAOSHIYA MATABEE and JM Corporation?

- "NAOSHIYA MATABEE" is the service name of JM (Japan Management) Corporation. Therefore, JM is the company where us craftmen belong.

- Why did you start the retail business?

- Do you know what "retail2 means? According to the dictionary, it means "small lot trade" and "small business". Therefore, retail business is small scale trade. This was a field where no traditional construction company would be involved.
Why then did we get involved in this field? The first reason is to improve the quality of the construction industry. We felt it necessary to have customer’s viewpoint which had been lacking in the industry. What is requested from the construction industry is to be more involved with individual customers.
Another reason is to extend the life cycle of the homes in Japan. As mentioned in the "Home Maintenance" service overview the Japanese home life cycle is very short compared to those in US and Europe. As a result, investment rate for new buildings are high as well. This is of course a very big waste in terms of environment but also from the cost stand point as well. We want to instill the culture of caring for their homes with maintenance and reforms, as they do in US and Europe, into Japan as well.

- Why don't you have anyone in charge of sales?

- Our motto is realizing the customer request.
For example, if we visited to change the door and we discovered a crack on the wall during our inspection. If the customer is worried about the crack, we will discuss whether or not the crack has any safety concerns and if it is unsafe, how it should be repaired. However, the customer will make the final decision on whether to order any additional service beyond the free advice.
We just want to fulfill our role as the "Resident Professional".

- What is the difference between other reform service provider and "handy man" services?

- The biggest difference with other reform service provider is the scale of the construction per project. Whereas the other reform company takes 1,000,000 yen per project, our average price range per project is under 100,000 yen. Another difference is that NAOSHIYA MATABEE not only provide reform service, but also solves all kinds of problems at home. Therefore, we also provide immediate responses to all kinds of problems at home and provide services not offered at regular reform company.
Also, our difference between the handy man services such as emergency key service, recycle collection, and other general problem fix-ups, is the fact that all of the staff from NAOSHIYA MATABEE are resident home professionals. Or, to put it in different words, difference in technological backbone. The services are limited to responding to every problems at the home, and from large scale reforms to building inspections, all of the services provided are conducted by professionals. Even for such simple task as repairing the drain, quick and appropriate solutions are provided through the eyes of professional.
